Professor Dorsen was the President of the American Civil Liberties Union from 1976 to 1991 and has argued many Supreme Court cases. He helped write the petitioner’s brief in Roe v. Wade and appeared amicus curiae in the Pentagon Papers case, the Gideon case and the Nixon Tapes cases. He is currently Counselor to the President of New York University as well as the Stokes Professor of Law at the NYU School of Law, where he has taught since 1961.
